Ethiopia is located in East Africa and is the second-most populous country in Africa. Addis Ababa is the capital and its largest city, and is where our Global One Health initiative has its regional office. Ohio State’s Global One Health initiative works extensively with Ethiopian partners including Addis Ababa University, University of Gondar and Addis Ababa’s Black Lion Hospital to expand the One Health approach.
China is located in East Asia and is the world's most populous country. Ohio State has long-standing relationships in China, offering five education abroad programs throughout the country, welcoming 4,000 Chinese students and hundreds of visiting scholars to the Columbus campus every year. To facilitate partnerships, recruit students and connect with alumni, Ohio State opened the China Gateway in Shanghai in 2010.
Brazil is located in South America and is the only Portuguese-speaking country in the region. Brazil is the largest country in Latin and South America and is home to the Amazon River basin. Its most populous city is São Paulo, where Ohio State’s Brazil Gateway has been located since 2014. Through the Global Innovation Initiative, Ohio State’s Global One Health initiative has partnered with the Federal University of Paraíba to provide training and foster research on global antimicrobial resistance issues.
